Systems Engineer

About the Role

The primary function is to interpret customer needs and specification documents to derive and refine system, subsystem, and assembly requirements and develop a holistic, contextually aware and verifiable solution architecture. You will ensure that the envisioned system has been validated to adequately and appropriately meet the needs of all key stakeholders.

The Systems Engineer is required to lead the formal verification of the product. You will liaise with the in-house or third-party test engineers to develop the test cases, organise the test readiness review and accreditation test, and prepare the test reports for the audits. The role provides a key supporting role to operations that helps ensure repair, process improvement and equipment realisation initiatives that embrace a holistic execution from cradle to grave.

Responsibilities

  • System Requirement Development
    • Interpretation of both customer and regulatory requirements and specifications
    • Derivation of Functional and Performance Specifications
    • Validated System Requirement Baseline via formal review (for example: SRR)
  • System Architecture Design
    • Iterative development of Solution Architecture through functional decomposition and mapping to physical model
    • Derivation and maintenance of Interface Control Documentation
    • Identification, analysis and mitigation of Technical Risks
    • Identification of critical supply-chain partners
    • Validated System Design Baseline via formal reviews (for example: SDR and PDR)
  • Integration Management
    • Validated Detailed Design via formal review (for example: CDR)
    • Develop Integration Management Plan
    • Establish Integration Infrastructure
    • Lead Integration and Demonstration activities from a technical perspective and provide front-line support to the PM from a logistical perspective
  • Assessment (incl. formal V&V)
    • Understand V&V test requirements and manage dependencies between Product and associated Special Test Equipment developments
    • Develop test procedures and conduct/supervise tests as needed to fulfil project objectives
    • Conduct testing and analysis for verification and organise accreditation tests when required (incl. the management of 3rd parties)
    • Liaise with Quality, V&V Team and certifying bodies to ensure certified Product delivery
    • Liaise with customer to ensure compliance with their Acceptance Test Plan
    • Manage verification from Test Readiness Review (TRR) through to results collation, submittal and final acceptance sign-of
  • Document
    • Develop and maintain critical guiding project documentation for example: Requirements Specs, Block Diagrams, ICDs, Integration Plans, Technical Manuals, Test Procedures, Test Results, Risk/Impact Analyses, Trade-off Analyses etc
  • Change Management
    • Management of Requirements Capture and Traceability using Polarion or equivalent tool
    • Management of Change Control through ECNs, Impact Assessments and formal reviews
  • Other Duties
    • Other duties as may be considered reasonably within the skills and expertise described in this PD

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Tertiary qualification in Electronic Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience developing and integrating systems and complex products.
  • Fluency in the systems engineering process and its application to the management of complexity and risk reduction.
  • Experience working within Systems Engineering lifecycle including Verification & Validation of systems.
  • Experience with authoring/reviewing technical documentation.
  • Extensive experience in management of engineering design / technical maintenance.
  • Strong Customer focus and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • High-level accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience with common requirements management, PLM and CM software.
  • Familiarity with ISO 15288 (or equivalent) and its practical application in a fast-paced, new product development (NPD) environment
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools (for example: Polarion, DOORS)
  • High level of competence using the MS Office suite for documentation, analysis and presentation
  • Strong problem-solving techniques and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Eligibility to obtain Australian Defence Clearance.

Senior Program Manager

About the Role

The Senior Program Manager will lead projects involving design & development, as well as entry into production, to deliver aerospace and defense products to our key customers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of the program(s) from conceptualization through completion, including planning and managing technical performance to ensure quality, business, and financial objectives are attained.
  • Provide program/project team leadership, fostering communication, cooperation, and conflict resolution.
  • Monitor work assignments, manage change, track risks, and report at program monthly reviews for multiple projects.
  • Identify program issues and provide leadership in developing solutions such as re-allocation of resources or modifying contract specifications.
  • Facilitate timely closeout of programs/projects, ensuring all obligations are met, and documentation is accurate.
  • Manage third-party suppliers & partners in order to ensure execution of program/project plans.
  • Develop and implement program corrective action strategies.
  • Apply principles of program planning and cash flow management effectively across disciplines.
  • Guide the preparation, execution, and closeout of internal and external Phase Gate Reviews (e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR, etc) from concept definition through certification.
  • Interact with internal and external representatives at various levels concerning the resolution of technical and scheduling issues. Act as primary contact for program issues.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Minimum of 8 years of Program Management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management or related field
  • Detailed knowledge of program management tools and procedures
  • Program management certification preferred (i.e. PMP or PMI)
  • Leadership and team management skills
  • Experience throughout the program lifecycle from development through sustainment to include proposal development, requirements decomposition, generation of system and subsystem statements of work and subcontracts, and risk management
  • Experience with earned value cost accounting and reporting; experience with metrics for assessing and reporting program progress, productivity and variance analysis
  • Ability to manage aerospace/defense programs as a prime or subcontractor
  • Experience in contracting, engineering, manufacturing and supply chain management
  • Prioritized self-starter, capable of breaking down complex problems into traceable tasks and concisely presenting project status
  • Clear communicator with experience presenting concepts to broad discipline audiences
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder)
