Thomas Global Systems receives EASA approval for TFD-4000 Series Pro Line 4 CRT Display Upgrades
- European operators with Collins Pro Line 4 avionics can now efficiently resolve CRT display obsolescence and benefit from the latest high-performance LCD technology, without the need for an expensive full cockpit retrofit, extensive aircraft downtime and crew retraining
- Upgrades cover Challenger 604, G100/G200, Falcon 2000/2000EX/50EX, Saab 2000 and MHI CRJ Series
IRVINE, California and SYDNEY, Australia (November 21, 2024) Thomas Global Systems has received European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) supplemental type certificate (STC) approval for the installation of its TFD-4000 and TFD-4100 LCD flight display upgrades on Bombardier Challenger 604, Gulfstream G100/G200, Dassault Falcon 2000/2000EX/50EX, Saab 2000 and MHI CRJ Series aircraft. The TFD-4000/4100 upgrades replace legacy Collins Aerospace EFD-4076/4077 Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) displays in these aircraft with the latest in liquid crystal display (LCD) technology. European operators with Pro Line 4 avionics can now efficiently eliminate CRT display obsolescence risk, and benefit from the latest high-performance LCD technology, without the need for an expensive full cockpit retrofit, extensive aircraft downtime and crew retraining.
“We are delighted to have EASA approvals in place to make our TFD-4000/4100 upgrades available to business jet and regional operators in Europe”, said Cyro Stone, Thomas Global Systems Vice President of Programs. “The TFD-4000/4100 upgrades deliver high-performance AMLCD technology in a practical and efficient plug-and-play design, enabling customers to cost-effectively address EFD-4076 and EFD-4077 CRT display obsolescence, reduce costs, and improve reliability for their Pro Line 4 equipped flight decks.”
This latest certification follows receipt of STC approval for these displays from the Federal Aviation Administration in September, with additional certifications targeted by the end of the year.
The TFD-4000 and TFD-4100 upgrades replace, respectively, the EFD-4076 and EFD-4077’s highest failure rate components and incorporate high-performance AMLCD technology with a proven analog-to-digital (A-D) software core design. Integrating seamlessly into the existing Pro Line 4 architecture and Built-In Test Equipment (BITE), the TFD-4000/4100 upgrades are interchangeable and intermixable with legacy EFD-4076/4077 CRT displays without impacting OEM display software Service Bulletins.
The TFD-4000/4100 products leverage Thomas Global Systems’ proven technology currently operating across Boeing 767/757/737-C, MHI CRJ Series, ATR 42/72, Dash 8, Saab 340, EMB120 and other regional and business airframes.
